SCHOOL SAFEGUARDING AUDIT

DETAILS​

Preparatory evaluations, followed by a one day visit to conduct the audit, culminating in a report with areas for development:

  • Audit conducted to ensure that the school is carrying out its duties in accordance with Keeping Children Safe 2025, Working Together 2023, DfE Guidance all relevant UK legislation

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the school Child Protection Policy, all related policies and school website prior to visit

  • School visit to undertake the audit conducted in a constructive, supportive, positive way

  • Appraise the school site security

  • Assess the effectiveness of policies, procedures, recording systems and evidence of multi-agency working through discussions with DSL

  • Systems, procedures and practices checked via evidence to assess the safeguarding effectiveness of policies.

  • Systems, procedures, training records and practice evidence is gathered from interviews with staff/pupils/governors and proprietors

  • Evaluation of Safer Recruitment practices, and a review of the school Single Central Record and evidence files.

  • Evaluate Safer Working Practices and Whistle-blowing within the school

  • Report detailing recommendations and advice to ensure that safeguarding is effective and appropriate; encouragement for current safeguarding practice

  • ​During the visit, should any safeguarding risks be discovered by the assessor, then referrals will be made to appropriate external agencies, with the full knowledge of the school leadership and governing body.
